can you use an inflatable boat for duck hunting?
i need a boat that i can transport in a ford explorer that is cheap. i hunt ducks in the hudson river area. less than 150 dollars is my price range.
inflatables are a bad idea when hypothermia is a threat. i have a 10 foot flat bottom aluminum jon boat that i used to put on top of my s-10 blazer. just put 2 boards across the roof rack and ratchet-strapped to the bumpers. the boat only weighs about 80 lbs. so a 200lb roof rack is usually good enough. its a little cumbersome to take off and put on by yourself. but its a breeze with 2 people.
you can find cheap used jon boats on craigslist or the local want ads. they are usually cheaper than kiyaks or canoes. the best place to find them is in a back yard with weeds growing up around it. sometimes folk let them go cheap just to get rid of it. i bought mine out of a back yard for 125. i spent 30 dollars on Hunter Specialties flat camo spray paint.
