What kind of boat do you suggest?
I am going on a trip of about 500km on river. There are big boat/ship on the river and when they move, large waves are created. Those waves can easily over-turn a small boat. I am thinking of inflatable boat but it seems not suitable. In short, I am looking for a stable, small (for 3 people) boat having an acceptable speed (10-15km/h). I’ll do the sailling so I do not need an engine, I am not rich (in fact I am a poor student) so a hand-made boat would be better I think.

I think I am going down stream, the river is Mekong river, I think it is really big.
I can get plywood, fiberglass and epoxy. We may have to sleep on the boat and there are tons of mosquitoes there.

sounds like an adventure. more info please, are you going down stream (with the current) or up stream? how big is the river? what direction does the wind blow (up stream. down stream or across it)? is the wind constant or are there areas where there is no wind? how big are the ships on the river? how deep is the river? what materials are available to build your boat (plywood, fiberglass, epoxy)?
if the ships are big then they cannot maneuver easily and you will need to keep clear. if you are traveling in areas where there is no wind or narrow channels you may need to drop sails and row or power you boat with a motor.
your budget and answers to the above questions will help us to recommend a good boat to build.
