Will it be possible to drift down the danube in a small inflatable rubber boat?
This just struck me as the cheapest and coolest way of travelling. I’m picturing the kind of inflatable boat that can be bought at toy shops. It’s so small, you can easily take it as part of your hand luggage on a Ryanair flight, even with foot pump and oars (unless they’re considered weapons). I’m wondering whether the current will be dangerously strong at any point, and if it will be easy to go on and off shore. How fast would one travel by just drifting? This is something I want to do during the summer together with friends, which I guess would improve the safety concerns. Never saw anyone attempting this while on the Danube myself–there are lots of locks to navigate, plus river cruise ships to avoid.
Not a good idea, to my way of thinking. Research the locks first!!
