Does anyone have experience with sailing?
I haven’t looked into it yet, but I have been really keen on joining a sailing club as I would love to ride a boat along the river near me.
Canoeing (sorry about the spelling) looks fun, but I would not like to do it as a sport. Just a leasurly activity, where I can sit down with luggage and a friend and sail into town.
I don’t know what type of boat this is called. I have in mind a dinghy without a motor. Would there be clubs for that type of sailing? I know that they have canoe clubs where I live.

What you are describing sounds like a sailing dinghy.10 to 14ft.
Might not be enough boat for 2 plus packs without a small motor.
Can’t always count on wind to get you there & back esp if there is river current.
Clubs vary.
Some have “club” boats which are shared & maintained by members.
Usually smaller boats in the “dink” class or small “class” racers.
Some marinas have clubs within clubs for different classes of design & size.
Some clubs are for boat owners of any size.
Ask around at sailing schools & yacht clubs in your area .
