About my creepy dreams…?

Any Psychologist/psychiatrists out there? I’m looking for some information on dream interpretation. My dreams are almost always set inside buildings that are dark, dingy, creepy, old/wore out, and are always in basements. Last night I was dreaming I was doing my internship in the basement of this old hospital and underneath my mattress was an aquarium filled with very expensive fish. I broke the mattress and aquarium and the fish died. I was trying to fix everything before I got caught and 2 doctors came down and sat on my bed while I pretended I was asleep. Again, this was in the basement of a hospital, pretty dark, next to no color in my dream except for the red/black, red/blue fishes.

I am not a psychologist but I can tell you what the symbols in your dream mean.

A building in one’s dream represents the totally of one’s self – memories, emotions, ideas, etc. To dream of dark and dingy buildings symbolizes feeling negative, oppressed.

To dream that you are in a basement, symbolizes your unconscious mind and intuition. The appearance of the basement is an indication of your unconscious state of mind and level of satisfaction. It represents primal urges, animalistic desires and basic needs. The dream may also be metaphor for “abasement” or being “debased”, and could mean that you are feeling humbled or unworthy.

A hospital is a symbol of a need for physical or emotional healing. To see a mattress in your dream represents your support system. To see an aquarium in your dream, signifies that you have acknowledged your emotions but have not yet confronted them. Thus, it may refer to your unconscious thoughts or repressed sexual desires. Also, you may feel that your life is going no where or that you feel it is going in circles. Alternatively, the aquarium may indicate that you need to calm down and set some time for yourself to relax and unwind. To see fish swimming in your dream signifies insights from your unconscious mind.

In your dream the fish (insights) are expensive (valuable) and died. This ties in with your mattress (support system) somehow, but I am not sure how (in your waking life). Perhaps you are trying to make some kind of progress with raising your consciousness and family member or friends are obstructing your progress.

To dream that you are seeing a doctor indicates your need for emotional and spiritual healing. The dream could highlight medical concerns and it may be time to go and get a physical check up. The number 2 stands for duality – the potential for things to get better or worse.

Your subsconscious uses your dreams to work through issues that you repress or that are too emotional to deal with while awake. Since you say that you rarely have pleasant dreams, it sounds as though you have some depressing issues going on in your waking life that you are trying to work through while asleep.
