can an inflatable kayak hold 350 lbs.?
i buying a inflatable challenger k2 kayak for ma and my wife im 240lbs. and she is 160lbs. will it hold us?
I am highly skeptical. First off, the two of you weigh 400 lbs together, not 350. That’s a really cheapo boat and it may “float” with 350 in it but I doubt anyone would be able to paddle it anywhere. It would just sit in the water like a blob. And at 400 lbs, you would likely cause it to buckle and swamp.
Why are you getting a tandem? They are harder to paddle and also not as safe as going out in two separate boats. Also, most cheap plastic tandems weigh from 65 to over 80 lbs and are horrible to load and transport. You would be better off renting two normal rigid plastic boats until you find something that suits you better rather than wasting your money on that glorified pool float.
But if you want a really good collapsible tandem boat for a reasonable price, I would recommend the Pakboat Puffin series Saranac 16 (at bottom of this website page):

It has an aluminum frame with a nylon and PVC shell with inflatable segments. It can be paddled as an open canoe-like boat as well as with the removable kayak deck. It has a true capacity of 400 lbs and only weighs 28 lbs. At around $1000 it is cheaper than most double plastic kayaks and is quick and agile to paddle.
