Poem Riddle…I’m just winging it here…?
Three little monkeys were in a canoe,
panicked and screaming and without a clue.
The gators were snapping and thrashing about.
That it looked pretty bad there could be not a doubt.
The paddle was propped ‘gainst a tree by the shore,
and the rope in the boat wasn’t there any more!
The waves in the pond were tossing the craft,
and keeping it close to an old splintered raft.
The monkey in charge felt the pressure commence,
as he realized he alone had any sense.
And suddenly leaping high into the air,
He let out a shriek like he hadn’t a care.
Can U help the monkeys?
Just when I thought I was getting to know you,
Perhaps you could answer in verse like you do,
Even if one of the monkeys should die,
I promise to chuckle and not ask ‘why?’
The first little monkey
leaped out of the boat;
forgetting that monkeys
don’t know how to float.
So he didn’t get far
though he kicked on the double;
a few seconds later
there was nothing but bubbles.
Watching their monkey pal
come to this end;
the two other chimps
sadly waved to their friend.
Now there were just
two in the canoe;
wondering madly
just what they should do.
Then a second chimp lept up
clutching his waders;
almost made it to shore
but forgot ’bout the gators.
One last monkey alone now,
watched but did not pursue;
’cause he was the smart one
and knew just what to do.
He reached down below
and pried up a slat;
from under a blanket
he pulled out a bat.
He held up the stick
and swung it about;
One… two… three… mighty swings
and he found he was out!
Now safely on shore
the monk spotted a gator;
spit in it’s eye
and said “catch me later!”
