There are pinholes on the oil dipstick tube on my boat…?
About three weeks ago it was discovered that there was a tiny hole on the bottom of the tube that holds the oil dipstick on the engine of my boat. All of the oil drained into the hull and it was not an easy cleanup. Anyway, we replaced the tube with a brand new stainless steel one only to discover a two days ago that there are new pinholes.
What could be causing this and how do we fix it?

For new stainless to rot within three weeks you are talking electrolysis. You need to check if there is ANY residual voltage flowing from the battery or any charger. Make sure you use good quality three stage or better chargers, as if the transformer is not of the fully isolated type the earth can act as a conduit to stray voltage!
Consider this as potentially very serious – if it is corroding thin wall tubing in several days – think of the rest of the engine. This needs quick action to determine exactly what is happening here.
